Ooh, one my favorite designs in my portfolio. The graphic novel itself was very “angular” with a French Noir-ish sort of feel, which definitely gave great inspiration to me in the conceptual process. Lee was more specific in that the cover had to convey the more literary, intellectual side of the novel, yet still be presented in a very stylish way. Much of the foundational design work involved just creating various type layouts before any concrete “visuals” were brought into the process.
